Law & Order: CI packaging for 2010 was a bit of a fresh start, with Jeff Goldblum and Saffron Burrows as the sole detective duo for this season. The concept was to portray Det. Zach Nichols as contemplative and a bit quirky, and to shine as much light as we could on the dynamic between he and his new partner.

With the exit of Chris Noth and the addition of Jeff Goldblum, we had the opportunity to refresh the second team of Law & Order: CI again. From previous packaging, we had the experience of the cluttered Manhattan skyline, and this time turned to Dumbo, Brooklyn for our environment, some on street level, some on the rooftop.

Law & Order: CI 2008 marked the return of Julianne Nicholson as Chris Noth’s partner, and rather than shoot a completely new set of packaging, the decision was made to pick up shots that would work well with the Vince & Katie footage from 2007. The shots were in a location similar to the previous year, but distinctly not the exact same place.

In 2007, Law & Order: CI first came to USA as an original, and the concept for the packaging was to use the environment of New York as a backdrop. The 2 separate casts of Vincent D’Onofrio with Katherine Erbe, and Alicia Witt with Chris Noth were shot separately to keep in the spirit of the show.
